Report on the 13th IIR Summer School

Institute of Innovation Research has been holding the IIR Summer School every year since 2010. The 13th Summer School was held at Josuikai Centennial Hall, Hitotsubashi University and online on August 22 & 23, 2022.

The purpose of this summer school is to promote innovation research by building researcher networks, offering a place for presenting the latest research results, and supporting young researchers. This year, we are honored to welcome Dr. Yuko Harayama (Professor Emeritus, Tohoku University / former Executive Director, RIKEN) as our guest speaker. A total of 9 presentations were made (5 were in Japanese and 4 in English).

The Best Presentation Award was awarded to Shotaro Yamaguchi, Ph.D. Candidate, University of Maryland.
The title of his presentation was “Science and engineering education and invention in Japan’s industrialization”.

This year’s summer school, the first hybrid event with on-site and online delivery, was well received. The participants were wide ranging from graduate students to researchers and business practitioners. We thank them all for their participation.
